We have taken board games, card games, and dice games into a number of schools over the last 15 years, in both a formal classroom context, and also in the informal space of breaks and lunchtimes.
We have used games to investigate topics such as fair trade, politics, and the environment, and more generally to engage in projects that develop maths, writing, design, and history skills. We have also used games to help encourage communication skills, cooperation, and teamwork, and to help develop positive interaction through learning to win and lose well.
In our community work we have worked with others to develop gaming groups, provided board games and helped volunteers to learn games that they can then teach to others. We encourage parents to join in with the games to promote the value of family time, and to offer an alternative to screen time.
If you are interested in finding out more about our schools and community work or would like to discuss the possibility of us working in your school or project, please use the ‘Contact Us‘ link and we will be happy to talk with you about what we might be able to do.
